During our very first chat together, Josh & Aly mentioned that they really wanted to incorporate snow into their engagement session. They envisioned a snowball fight, some frolicking, some snow-covered trees— just a super cute outdoorsy session! We decided that Devil’s Lake State Park would be the perfect location, set a date, and crossed out fingers that the warming weather wouldn’t melt all the snow.
On the day of our session, it SNOWED. So much that the roads in and out of Devil’s Lake were somewhat perilous, but once we made it into the park, it was SO worth it! There were times when the bluffs on the opposite side of the lake weren’t even visible.
Due to the layers of ice under the snow, we were all certain we were going to end up flat on our backs in a snow drift. We all agreed that feeling in our toes was now only a thing of memory. My fingers were so stiff that rolling film was more like a Minute-to-Win-It challenge.
The three of us spent the whole afternoon slipping around, laughing until our faces hurt from more than just the cold, and enjoying each other’s company. I can’t wait to see these two say their vows this summer! (In a beautiful outdoor wedding, of course.)
Without further ado, enjoy the snowiest of Devil’s Lake Engagement Sessions!
Josh had this stunner of a ring custom-made for her, and then carried it around for a full day at Disney before popping the question just after-hours! They had the whole park to themselves. Hello, fairy-tale.
